Helping Small Businesses Get Noticed!

pr for small business owners

If you're the owner of a small or growing business our PR and marketing mentoring for small businesses may be just the thing for you. It effectively banishes the need for an outside Public Relations Agency by bringing you up to speed on everything you need to know about PR  - and supports and motivates you or your team as you then carry it out.

Taking the form of monthly PR strategy sessions (which take place on the telephone),  plus unlimited email support in between, our small business PR coaching means that without even leaving your own office or home you will:

* Learn how to plan and carry out your own PR and marketing campaigns.

 * Have an experienced expert PR coach who can brainstorm ideas with you, suggest angles that you might never have come up with, and keep you informed of any publications and media opportunities that will get your business fantastic press coverage.

Your Own Personal PR Expert

We understand that running a small business is demanding but you can look upon your own personal PR and marketing coach as your very own extra "member of the board". Their job is to get to know your own strengths and skills and build a media training programme around them. What's more, each month they will also set out realistic and practical monthly actions that will keep moving your business forward. And having regular appointments to discuss progress is a fantastic way of ensuring that your PR and marketing jobs do get done, rather than slipping down your "to do" list.

Your PR and marketing mentor will soon become a trusted advisor, playing the role you need them to play - whether it's one of creative director or just a great motivator (or bully/nag!) to help you get things done.

There's no minimum or maximum time limit on our coaching. Some clients only need a few months to be up and away - other clients we've had for many years and they now look upon us as a vital part of their PR activity in their own small and growing businesses. Why not give us a call on 0208 504 4557 or email us on  to find out more about how our PR coaching can help you.

Meet The Professionals

Each of the Do Your Own coaches has a different background and speciality. They all run their own companies so, as well as knowing PR and marketing inside out, they also understand the complexities and pressures of doing it alongside running a small business.

Great value for money
Paula’s coaching is a valuable combination of 'on the job' learning and tailored coaching. Her wealth of PR experience has been put to good use to help us come up with solutions that are both creative and practical. Paula has helped us to really 'get to grips' with our PR activity, generating measurable results in the process. Overall, great value for money!

"We have seen a massive growth in our profile and a large increase in profits and this has been mainly down to our PR activities."

"A big impact on my business"

"Paula's PR Coaching service has had a big impact on my business. Although I've always had heaps of PR ideas and worked hard on them, I wasn't achieving anything in particular. Paula's fresh perspectives and creativity inspires me to dig deeper into myself for new ideas. She gives me the buzz (and confidence!) to work on skills that have been lying dormant, making me think about different ways you can reach your potential customers. The coaching calls and actions easily fit around my work and clients, and give me an excellent opportunity to focus on PR on a monthly basis. Inspired by Paula,  I am now a regular columnist on various web sites, local papers and a national magazine. Talk about different ways of reaching new customers!"

A no-brainer for the cash starved business owner
"Working with Paula has helped my business in two main ways. First, she has provided a  comprehensive education about what really works in PR, then she has nagged me to take regular action. All of this has been delivered in a time and cost effective way. the whole course cost 25% of what a local PR form quoted to put a single press release together - it really is a no-brainer for the time and cash starved business owner."'

A Jump-start
Do Your Own PR has been a valuable tool in the promotion of my business and the direction that Cosy Posy's PR efforts should take.  I highly recommend Paula's PR coaching service.  It is both tremendously motivating and highly informative.  It has jump started our PR campaign and I have learned so many skills that I can use indefinitely. Thank you Paula!
Renee Labelle, www.cosyposy.co.uk

Invaluable
Paula, thank you so much for all your help and support the past few months.  Your input has been invaluable. As you are aware, I have major “time” issues and have therefore decided that it is time to finally hand over PR back to a “professional” but I would never have been able to get this far without your input.  Thank you! Nadine Lewis, www.identikids.co.uk

Much more effective
My previous PR strategy (such as it was) consisted solely of expensive adverts, which NEVER paid for themselves. Thanks to you, I have now abandoned this strategy completely and adopted a far more creative approach. It's cheaper, more fun and much more effective!"

Four months ago I launched an e-shop selling new products made from recycled materials. It took every bit of grey matter to ‘get the show on the road’ and finally after 3 years of building the business I could concentrate on telling the world about us. I knew I needed particular skills but the what, who, how, why and when completely stumped me. I was stuck. Luckily I attended a marketing seminar (via Business Link) and heard about DoYourOwnPR. Paula and Emily put me back in control; they told me the skills I needed and how to get them. Emily guided me through the press release process - just knowing that glossy magazines have a 3-4 month lead time helped me to prioritise. I went from not knowing where to start and stalling at the first sentence to having a portfolio of press releases for every eventuality. I have had positive responses and even an interview and (dreaded) photoshoot.
